On a 1987 Greenpeace trip documenting
pollution issues on the Mississippi River, our group was invited
to the annual Town Party in Hamburg, IL, a small village along the
banks of the Mississippi River north of St. Louis. There were lots
of costumes, lip syncing contests and wagon rides. The town folks
really got into it. No alchohol was served, but it was one of the
wildest parties Ive ever witnessed.
